Encaustic

Encaustic is a form of art done with pigmented wax. The base is wood or canvas paper. Photographs, watercolor paintings can also be used as the base. Layers of wax are melted to create designs. Objects can also be added to the wax. Many enhancements can be done by adding ink, stamps, gold paper, oil pastels, pigments, etc. Care should be taken to keep the encaustic art away from direct sun. Occasional buffing of wax maintains the sheen of the art.
